Softball Fields

Sheldon 1 [S1], Sheldon 2 [S2], Sheldon 3 [S3] and Jackson St [JSS]
If your team is scheduled to play at the Sheldon fields or at Jackson St and it rains, call the Northampton Recreation Department at 587-1044 after 4:30pm and listen to the recording to see if games have been cancelled.

Practices: If your team wants to use a Sheldon field, or Jackson St for practices, you must contact the Northampton Rec Department to schedule those practices: 587-1040. You can schedule two at a time. Be sure to pick up your slip before the practice. The office is open until 4:30pm.

Directions to the Sheldon Fields
Sheldon Fields are located right off of Route 9. There is parking in one of the lots or on the grass of the Three County fairgrounds. Sheldon 2 [S2] is the softball field set farthest back from the road. Sheldon 3 [S3] is the last field on the left. It is beyond Sheldon 1 [S1], which has a big backstop, dugouts, and a fence.

From 91N (or Route 9 West from Amherst):
— Turn left off of Exit 19 (you'll be on Route 9 W)
— Go under the overpass
— The road narrows to a single lane, with a stoplight for turning left onto 91S
— Go through the stoplight, past some houses, immediately after, you'll see baseball/softball fields on your left. Turn left onto Old Ferry Rd (If you reach a cemetery, you've gone too far on Route 9.)

From Northampton center:
— Take Main Street (which becomes Route 9 East) out of town, towards (but not all the way to) 91 South
— You will pass the Post Office, Bridge Street School, and a cemetery
— After the Three County Fairgrounds, turn right onto Old Ferry Rd. (If you reach a stoplight or 91 S, you've gone too far on Route 9.)

Directions to the Jackson St Field
Jackson St field is located behind Jackson St School (on Jacskon St).

From Route 9 West from Amherst:
— Make a right just after the Coolidge Bridge onto Damon Rd.
— Pass over the railroad tracks to the light at King St.
— Go straight through the lights, up the hill on Bridge Rd.
— At the next set of lights turn left onto Jackson St. Look for Jackson St School mid-way down Jackson St on the right.

From Northampton center:
— Take Elm St (Route 9 West) through town toward Smith College
— Pass by Smith College, Autum Inn (on right), Massasoit St (on right)
— When Elm St makes slight bend to right - you will see a church and Northampton High School up ahead on left - make right onto Woodlawn Ave.
— At next intersection, cross over Prospect Ave, onto Jackson St
— Look for Jackson St School mid-way down Jackson St on the left.

Ft. River Elementary
70 S. East Street, Amherst

If your team is scheduled to play at Ft. River or Groff Park, and it rains, call Amherst Leisure Services at 413-259-3066 after 4:30pm and listen to the recording to see if games have been cancelled.

Directions to Ft. River:
— From Northampton, take Route 9 East to Amherst
— When you get to the intersection of Route 9 and Pleasant St. (Rt. 116) in Amherst, go through it
— Go down the hill, all the way to a set of lights
— Turn left onto S. East St and go north for 300 feet
— Turn right into the first driveway
— The field is immediately on your right

Groff Park
Mill Lane, Amherst

Directions to Groff Park:
— From Northampton, take Route 9 East to Amherst
— When you get to the intersection of Route 9 and Pleasant St. (Rt. 116) in Amherst, go right (away from downtown)
— Go about 1 mile to the first set of lights - Mill Lane is on the left beyond this light
— Make left onto Mill Lane - Groff Park will be immediately on your left
— Field #2 is closest to the parking lot
